How do you remove the wheels centers on the 15" 8 hole wheels?

I have tried to pry them out with a mini screwdriver, but I don't want to mees up the wheel finish and they are in there tight.

Thanks,
Robert Collins

I usually resort to just taking the wheel off, then popping the caps from the inside out.

I have damaged a few rims like that (screwdriver), and I've yet to come up with an easier solution...

I was afraid that was the answer. but that's what I'll do. Thanks.

The wheels are in a bout 90% shape since I buffed and waxed them, but the centers are atrocious as almost ALL the paint is gone off them. Do you know what the correct color of silver is to match them back again if I am going to paint them?

You might want to try an industrial suction/vacuum cup to get the initial movement, then a very thin blade screwdriver to complete the pry off of the wheel.
Place a towel on the wheel surface so you don't chip it when prying.

The cap has a circular spring wire that keeps pressure on the plastic fingers to hold the cap to the wheel.

if the wheels are chromed just save yourself the headache and buy yourself a few new sets of cheap chrome centercaps.

the plastic material on the OE ones is soft and pliable. not so the chrome ones, which are not OE.

The wheels are actually not chromed. They are the polished Mercedes 8-hole wheels with a clear coat on top of the polished finish, so I am not sure what shade of silver to paint them. Anyone got any ideas as to the right silver paint to use to get them to match the polished silver wheels?
