URGENT: Ignition switch codes. Help

Folks, I need a quick fix. I was replacing the key tumbler in my igntion lock, and to work on it I took the whole thing out. BUT, I thought the big black plastic connector on the rear end of the assembly was the harness connection, and I forced it apart. Yes.

In any event, does anyone know what the codes mean (15, 15x, 30, etc) on the female half of the connections? I have no idea what wires go where now. I hope to replace the whole assembly in the coming days, but I need my car now.

Many thanks.

50 goes to the starter circuit...give me a bit. This is confusing.

See page 9, the last page. It looks like 30 to 15 or 15x heats up the ignition circuit; 30 to 50 activates starter through the interlocks. Good luck.

thanks again shdoug

Shdoug, thanks again for going to the trouble to send me that info. I really appreciate it.

The wiring connections as listed in the link I found did the trick. I tested things with a screw driver before putting the new key tumbler in. Drove around the block in celebration. Then I put the new key tumbler in, shoved the works back into the steering column, put the trim back on, and discovered the new key wouldn't go in, because now the steering lock is not engaging and moving the little nylon thing that prevents the key from going in.

This will be fun.

Once I figure it out I'll pass along what I've learned. If anyone can teach me anything in advance, I'll be grateful.

I may just drill the nylon thing out of there since I don't seem to have a steering lock any more. But I'm taking things apart again to make sure.

I can't believe the procedure for the ignition switch is not in the manual...at least I can't find it.

That may be because they don't anticipate guys like me exposing the connection that's not supposed to be broken. But you would think they might at least mention the wiring arrangement.
