Guess what? It's back! Yup, unbearable booming and vibration between 140-160km/h. Gees, I can't believe I'm going to have to go through this all over again! And I really want to keep this car!
Is it just me, or do I get the impression that this is an issue exclusive to the M104 drivetrain??!

I just realized I haven't posted an update...
Okay, problem solved. As it turned out, everything that I've ever done to fix the driveline issue was useless, unnecessary, and a total waste of money.
On 1993-95 E320s (and possibly other 124s), the propeller shaft carrier is bolted to a bracket, which, in turn, is secured to the floor panel with two nuts on one end and two bolts on the other. As it turned out, the two nuts were in place, but the two bolts were missing.
I asked my new mechanic - the one who finally figured out the real cause of the issue - how this might have happened. He wagered that when someone - probably the previous owner's mechanic - wanted to replace the carrier, they mistook these two bolts for the ones securing the carrier to the bracket; when the carrier didn't come off, they realized that they had undone the wrong bolts and proceeded to undo the right ones, and simply neglected/forgot to put the first two bolts back where they belong. My mechanic put two bolts in place and tightened them up. I took the car for a test drive, and all was well in the world.

I installed OM662.910 engine on Mercedes 124.020. I am facing problem of overheating as oil consumption seems to be little more. Noise and slight vibration in drive line at slow and reverse.
