No brake light

Just purchased a 1989 300E it has approx 200,000 miles and has some bumper damage....evrything else is in pretty good shape. Paid 700 u.s dollars. However upon driving home I discoverd that i have no brake lights. Looked at the fuses and found 1 burned white fuse (8amp???) tried to replace and the fuses blow upon contact. Also the fuses box has no diagram. all other fuses seem ok.. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

Thanks....

if you can look at which fuse is broken and count it....
if your standing infront of the car and looking at the fuse box....where is it in relation to you....if you can't figure out which one is which, let me know, i can get my card out of my fuse box and scan it...
if the fuse is blowing immediatly, then chances are, there is something grounding when it shouldn't be

i take that back...it should be fuse #5 that is blowing....but i would check simple things to make sure that the brake lights aren't grounding...
also tied into this fuse besides the stop lamps are:
bulb monitor module,
cruise control,
front dome light,
instrument cluster,
and tachometer

hopefully others can add more to this also

It was the #9 fuse and i think i may have left something on in the car because i was able to replace it a few minutes ago and the interior lights now work but still no brakes lights and all the other fuses look good.. I havent changed all the bulbs yet i just thought it strange for all to blow at once..

hmm, yeah, i see that fuse 9 powers the clock, the dome light, the radio and a few other things....but you can check the blubs for the brake lights, or even possibly the brake switch, i have heard of others saying they fixed it with that
