1990 300E-24 water pump part number
Hi folks, I need a water pump for my W124 24 valve (sedan) originally Japan-market 300E.
I think the 24v takes a different pump from the non-24v. Can anyone confirm this? If you have the part number that would be great.
TIA

It is a different part. I bought one because mine was leaking and had to send it back because I could not get the bottom mounting bolts out. Had to take it to a shop and it cost like 800 bucks. Pissed me off because I'm pretty handy....and the shop would not install my pump...had to buy theirs... and my pump got lost in the mail on return to parts place.
I bought it here:

cheapest I could find

I bought my pump from the local MB dealer. They had factory rebuilt pumps with a full warrenty, and if it was the wrong pump, they would return/exchange it. The cost was about $50 more than I found online, but I felt it was worth the $. Given the serial #, engine # etc, they should be able to get you the right part.
I do know that there is a difference between years based on weather the pump has a hard coolant line running from the rear of the pump near the top to the oil cooler/heat exchanger that is housed near the oil filter.
If your pump has this line, you are almost forced to remove your resonance manifold in order to get to the coolant line bolts. I would replace the Allen head bolt with standard hex heads if I were you...
