am I a noob, but I don't really understand how the car was "too high" not sure if you have the suspension on in those pictures, but it looks as if you were in the right direction with the height.

Ride height on a race car and a street car are two different things altogether.

On a production based chassis that you take road racing, the ride height and angle of the car (front height compared to rear height) is very important to dial in. You need to have clearance from the body work to be able to "tune" these paramterers real time.

If the height is limited by the body, then you end up making too much of a compromise and limit the performance.

Too low, and you will not have enough suspension travel and may be out of the range of the geometry (this is why on many production based cars, they move the suspension pick-up points - this is exactly what we do on the BMW M3's).

Too high and the car will "wallow" and it moves the center of gravity to high off the ground, potentially over-working the suspension (giving it too much weight transfer to control).

I hope this helps to understand it.

As always to the OP - great job, I am enjoying watching!

thanks
Brad

The car used to weigh nearly 3300... I can only imagine how much it is going to be now especially since you are stripping it. Are you going to keep it 'luxury' inside with leather and maybe navigation screen?

That would be blasphemy after spending all this money on carbon fiber to save weight!

Agreed. Something tells me this is most likely not going to be the "daily driver". Maybe we'll see an engine managment system in the cocpit??

A stock 124.036 weighs 4000 pounds with fuel... then add the weight of the driver, etc. The factory published figure of 3855 was without fuel. This car was NOT light in stock form!

95 e320...sold the rest
Well, it IS a Mercedes. And 124's are referred to tanks for a reason, being the weight, safety, and of course durability.

That process is crazy! It's totally logical. I've just never seen that before.
