Any idea how much all the stock panels and plastic cladding weigh in total? 700lbs?
I think only the front fenders, hood and front bumper are a direct swap. Is the trunk lid and rear spoiler the same on sedan and coupe models too?
Assuming only the front panels are identical, it sounds like those 4 parts in CF might save 200lbs for US$4k, which is pretty decent if they're bolt on parts with <1hr of work required.

AFAIK, the Coupe has a different trunk lid and rear quarter dimensions. You can't use sedan parts there (spoiler on trunklid included). Rear bumper spoiler is the same however.

Wow, I didn't realize how heavy some of these panels were.

They are bolt on... almost... I donīt have the orginal locking in the hood and I will use some quick release on the front...
You canīt usde my rear bumper if you donīt use the other panels...

Why no original locking on the hood? Didn't feel like putting that lock mechanism back or another reason?
700lb is not bad! Puts the coupes back down to about 2800lb which is MUCH lighter.

Yes, the carbon isnīt as hard as the metall. We made it light in the first place... and that donīt make it as hard as steel... so you will need som extra mounts to hold the hood down... or else you might get a realy dark ride when the hood is over your windshield

Hi, I'm from belgium.
I just want to loose this story. i always have been into 124's, like a maniak. never owned one tough. but I'm always on the internet looking for projects. but man, this one is the queen of all.
in februari this year, i went to sweden for my testing period. i worked for 2 weeks in volvo Bil in Gothenburg. my supervisor was Tony Andersson, you know him?
and man, i swear to god, if i had seen this project then, i would have done anything to come see the car in real life. you got me hooked to the screen.
I believe i speak for all of us if I say, GREAT WORK.
honestly, i can't find the right words.....
i can't wait to see the result, you have another fan........

While y'all are waiting for an update on the uber-500, check out this bit of 124.036 lunacy:
http://www.benzclub.ru/forum/showthread.php?t=178363
Warning: There are over 90 pages (so far) of high-res photos. Besides the chassis restoration, the stereo system is pretty cool (I like the multi-level amp rack in the spare tire well), and the exhaust system looks awesome (pages 82-83, 88-89).
Motilev, btw, I like your avitar! One of these days I'd like to own an F4-1000 (maybe the 312). Gotta sell my Mille-R first though.

Was the hood just layed up with one ply of carbon & several with fiberglass? Is it a Polyester wet lay up part, or was it Vacuum Bagged with a core? Just asking becasue I've made the hood with the factory hinges & works fine & is extremely light, but I vacuum bagged it with a honeycomb core & it is way stronger the the OE. I've even jumped on it with no problem & didn't get any damage..
btw, car looks amazing, we need some updates.
Kind regards,
A.S.
