Battery Drain Somewhere???
OK i wasn't gonna post about this because i thought i could search and maybe find what it was. Well i searched on ideas how to find it one idea i found on this site is to pull the fuses out and see if that would stop the drain well pulled out almost all of then just left the ones that it needed to start and still a drain ( seats, headlights, door lights, antenna etc etc. only thing on my cluster that shows a problem is ABS??? i unplugged the front to cables for it seemed it held a charge longer but not sure if that could drain my battery. And i have also checked the altanator (sp) by unplugging the battery while the car was running car stays on all day but when you connect the battery again and crank it NOTHING. Battery is new also just got it Feb. checked it out and did a test on it came back GOOD. Car is a 1986 300E any other ideas I'm not checking please let me know i'm almost stumped
on this thanks a lot guys

How specifically do you know that there is a drain? Or you putting a volt/multimeter on the battery and checking the draw?
Your alternator test that you describe proves nothing. Try putting a bridge on the battery and unplug the alternator. I bet you'll lose the drain...

Also, are you sure that it's a battery drain? You could have the wrong diagnostic hypothesis.
IF your ABS is on all the time, that is a sign that your OVP is busted, and would therefore give you starting problems, almost as if you had a weak battery or alternator.

ABS light on can also mean low voltage/charging fault. My money is on the alternator.
If you have tried jump starting the car you may have blown the OVP fuse. Could be worth checking that too.

1. Unplug your battery
2. pull battery out of tray.
3. remove plastic water shield (black plastic behind battery)
4. you will see what looks like to huge plugs]
5. On top of one of these plugs there is what looks to be a lid.
6. Flip it open and you will see a 10A fuse, remove, replace and take it from there.
that should do away with some trouble

Pull the positive from the battery, bridge it with a meter from the cable to the battery. The meter will show you the draw that is occuring. Unplug the alternator. I bet you the draw goes away. Moreso than not, a bad brush or contact in the alternator is the most common cause of a drain. If it's not that, prepare yourself for a assload of trouble shooting. Nevertheless, whatever you do the meter will indicate if you have found your problem or not (source of the drain).
