I might buy a 1989 E 200 today
I live in Norway, and the car was imported from Germany in 2001. The original German papers are still in the car. The car is listed in Norway to have a value of 32.000 NOK but I got the price down to 22.000 NO because he wanted to sell it because he had already bought a brand new car and didn't have space for them both.
Now, what I'm wondering, I'm a new MB guy. I drive a taxi in Bergen, a 2006 E200 CDI which is great. But I really don't know much about MB cars. And I can't find much info on the web, about technical details and such. Also there is no instruction manual in the car and there are a few knobs and stuff even the owner didn't know what was for. Would be great if someone with some MB experience could help me with some details about the car.
Here is what I know so far, It has a 2 lite petrol engine, the right mirror is electric. ALL the electric seems to work perfectly, apart from the left parting light. It has a strange left - right parking switch that I really didn't understand. The color is white, it's tired are Continental 205x65 R16. That is pretty much what I know so far.
Would be great if someone could help me with more info about this car.
if you want one that bad, find a 190E 2.6 with a 5 speed. most of what you need is there.
find someone who has done the conversion. theres plenty of threads here and other boards about it.
you could find a mercedes shop with friendly parts counter where theyd give you all the part numbers and all that to perform the swap.
you could import one from japan.
there are so many things you could do.
you are not ready to kill. else youd have already done all the things i just mentioned.
Congratulations on the car, and i love how our norwegian member writes better english than half the people on mbworld...!

And again thats correct on the dial. Turn to the left for parking lights. I do actually use them when at night in the city, most people assume I just left my headlamps on though.
The photos look pretty good but do the usual and check for repairs and aftermarket parts. The front fenders can hide rust and the jack points can collect water doing the same. If you do get the car then resolve the corrosion first thing!
The W124s were solidly built cars with strong engines. Should you get it the car should make it well past 300,000 km.
