Traction Control
Is it possible to wire the traction control on permanently? I think my dad told my benz mechanic to do it...
I'm saying this because when it rains...I sometimes get into the pedal a little bit and it wont burn out. The wheels spin, but only for a second...then it feels like it down-powers, then spins for a second again...is this the sign of traction control being on? The little light on the "tire" switch on the instrument cluster is off...so I don't know

The "tire" dash switch is not a disable for ASR and means you do have it. ASR is always on. The switch indicates tire chains and when selected (light on) tells the system you are chained up. It adjusts control for the traction effect. It will blink on when the engine is first started. Should always be off.
The Yellow lamp, Eliot mentions, will come on when ASR engages. Easy to duplicate throttling on a gravel road. The light should burn steady when the key is in #2 position, pre-start.
I don't burn out much on wet roads so can't say what happens. I'm certain - ASR will try to take control. It uses the anti-lock system as well servo throttle control. Driver input is overridden.
How about a nice Chevy with Posi-trac for you?
