just wanted to drop in and say hello..not new to forums at all..tried to register the other day under another login, but never got the email..oh well...here i am.

me and my wife were given a really clean 1986 300E about 2 weeks ago, and i dont know jack about Mercedes other than its German, and seems to be pretty damn fast car..but the car does have its problems that i will be asking questions about from time to time...but i need to search first and see if i can find my answers..

i dont have any pics of the car yet, but i will get some up soon..and if anyone can make any suggestions about the 300e 3.0, please inform me..especially as far as performance upgrades avaliable..

I've had my 91 300E for almost 9 years now and just aquired a 95 E320, sure it's had its problems, but still runs just like the day I bought it.

Anything done to the 240?

The '86 we got has 229,XXX miles on it, and runs great, its a little rough, but i dont think its had a tune up or regular maintinance done in a long time..other than that its just suspension work, and a few thing inside..

as for the 240, its currently going through an experiment. i have the sohc ka24e in it, but amd building it to 12.8:1 compression with an ITB setup...just until i get my RB in..

but my attention has been turned to the Mercedes for now..cause it is for my wife, and if i dont fix it first i wont have a 240 anymore...lol

 

all i need is paint and work on the inside to. well we are all glad to have you as a part of our group.

 

yeah and i forgot to mention paint...i dont like that light tan color..my wife wants the car black or blue...i want it silver...

but i'm glad to be here..never thought i would own a Mercedes..

oh so far i'm loving it...ive always been a Nissan guy myself, and have built and reaced several hondas, nissans, etc..only a couple of German cars, but I must say for stock form this car moves even with the shifting problem..handling is another story, i still need new shocks..but time will tell.

and i didnt really pick the car..it was given to us, and we had no choice if we wanted it or not..lol
