Time for brakes on the E420...
Hi all, I have been lurking forever, posting almost never, but I am still around...and loving my car all the while, by the way!
It is time to put new brakes on the Benz. The wheels I run are pretty airy and allow an unimpeded view of the rotors and calipers. While I have not yet decided about painting the calipers (gold or charcoal seem like the only good color for stocker calipers to my eye) I am decided that I would like to run slotted rotors (I have read the ongoing MBWorld debate) and go with pads that create the least amount of brake dust but the most amount of friction. Of course, I am sensitive to making sure that my anti-lock and wear sensor features are uneffected, as well as measurable braking force.
That said, does anyone have any feedback or recommendations regarding one brand of aftermarket rotor over another? Also, does anyone run EBC or Porterfield pads? If not those, is there another pad manufacturer you would recommend? ( I am very ignorant as to what is the hot setup in the Euro-market)
For what it's worth, I will drop in all new OEM stuff if there is ANY chance that aftermarket stuff will not get the job done as good or better than OEM.
I plan to drop in new springs, shocks, sway-bars and I am planning to do the diff-swap very soon too (Eliot's help please!). I will likely continue running the wheels I have now, although they may be too wide (17 X 8 ET37) to do a significant drop. If that's the case, I need to find someone who wants to swap my FIVE wheels with a new Conti spare) for a cool set of four that will fit. The brakes need to come first though, so any feedback is much welcomed.
Thanks in advance!

08 Lexus GS350 AWD. 08 Lexus RX350 AWD - wife's. 94 MBZ E320 - still have it.
I have EBC Green Stuff pads on the front. The best pads I ever had. They last twice as long as the OEM and don't dust near as much. I think Tirerack sells them. I paid for the front set somewhere around $80, but it was worth it.

I have some Brembo front rotors that are practically new from my 400E that I totalled. They are just sitting in my garage and have about 1000miles of light use on them. I have no V8 benz to throw them in Interested?
I use factory/oem style pads, but a great way to improve the brakes I have found is to replace the flex lines with stainless steel braided lines. I got my set of 4 from Performance products for about $100

if your rotors are solid as you say, and will bolt up to a '95 E420, I am definitely interested. Can you shoot me a pic and a price?
