The material it's made of, the overall quality, the genuiness, The AMG logo and the bragging rights. Personally, I would rather save $1500

LOL. Keep in mind you get what you pay for these days.

What's the difference you ask?

Well the one you said you just ordered is made out of cheap fiberglass. You'll have a hardtime getting it to fit properly because I'm pretty sure the mold doesn't have the proper mounting brackets as the Genuine AMG GenII has. You'll end up paying a buttload for labor because of all the customize fiberglass mounts you'll have to make in order for the replica to fit correctly. I know this for a fact because I have a friend who has purchased a replica and he absolutely went through hell with it. The real GenII is made out of an stronger materal, I believe it's ABS Plastic.

Also, The price the people are quoting you for a real GenII includes EVERYTHING you need to install and complete the look of a AMG GenII front end.

I really don't know why people cheap out on their mercedes... Especially on AMG parts.

Anyways, have fun and let us know how the install goes.

i would be very surprised if the fake one would take anywhere close to 1,500 worth of extra work to get it to fit, so either way you would save money.
as for cheaping out on parts, the value of our cars is rapidly approaching the price of a new set of rims. it's hard to justify spending maybe 50% of the book value of your car on a front bumper. if we were driving w211's, it would be a no-brainer to go original, but with our rides... let's be serious.

I have no problem whatsoever spending money on my car despite what our values are and everything else. That's just me though.

it's all relative. I won't spend 4 grand on an AMG body kit, but i will spend 1 on a WALD one, etc.
i spend more than is justifiable on my car. but as financial decisions go, its unwise to pour money into an 'investment' that is devaluing regardless of what you do to it. yes, i do it, and you do too. but i was just trying to explain why other (probably wiser) people don't see the need to pay top dollar for original parts when they can get replicas for a fraction of the price. for most of us, the ENTIRE car is worth less than the P2 package ALONE on a new E class. it's sad when the rims, kit, and system are worth literally more than the actual car. i understand its a 'passion' for most of us, but you can't fault anyone who is a little more realistic than the rest of us. like i said before, if we were driving nice shiny new benzes, i would also criticize people for slapping on fake things. but when half the people on here weren't born when their car rolled out of the dealership...
