I was wondering if any one here has sprayed over their chrome and if so how long did it last?
Im not sure what its like on our Benzs but on my old Honda, I struck the grill in a bucket of bleach for a couple days, changing the bleach daily. It cleaned the chrome off the plastic then i sanded it primed and painted

Sand the ****e out of the chrome, then adhesive promoter for metal, then primer then paint then clear coat

Rinse and repeat

For the grille surround and high chipping areas, put the newer 3M clear bra over it and you will never chip it

Thanks Zorro. If it all comes together right I will have the White version of Enzo.

I got my headlights, Taillights, Flat AMG badge for the grill in the mail today it will all go on this weekend. I will also be spending the rest of the time sanding my grill and preping and painting. I have to find a good paint that will match my white fairly well.

I need the ductail and Gen II bumper now. I just need to find them. Acctually I would take any nicer front bumper Gen I, Gen II, Wald.

Oh and I have been meaning to ask would the Star from the rear of an SLK fit and look good on that ducktail?

You can make it fit, and if you think it looks good, it does!

For paint, look for an autobody supply shop, they can put your paint code into a spray can, then you buy the clear coat from them too and voila, no matching issues. Do NOT try to "find a good paint that will match my white fairly well" Get the exact color.

Here is the stuff I used when I painted my fender flares:

Clear, Body Color and Sandable Primer. i forgot to show a pic of the adhesive promoter but just tell them you need to spray chrome.

MAACO could do it, I'd sand it first and then let them paint it...

I did all my own paintwork (grille, eyebrows, wiper panels, symbols...it's not that hard....MAACO would probably do a bit better job though...

Well yall The headlights went on the tail lights went on the star is gone thanks to my AMG flat badge, but now a few things have reared their ugly heads.

1. The edge of the flat badge sits elevated off the grill ever so slightly.
2. New lights so the "check lights" lamp is always on.
3. The chrome grill touching those lights looks terrible.
4. I was a dumb *** and I got the headlights for a car not equiped with headlight wipers soooo I have to fab a bracket for my wiper motor or I have to get the plates for a non-equiped car.
5. There is a extra bulb in my left rear tail light that hs me puzzled. Its the lower right on on the rail. It isnt on my set up on the right side.

I am definately going to try and get that grill painted on Monday.
The grill Badge I will have to live with.
And I dont know what to do about the plates.
I think I have to pull the lamp out of that warning light.

what kind of tail lights did you get?
the extra bulb in the tail light goes on when you turn the fog lights on.

post pics of your head and tail lights so we have a better idea of what you're working with.
