Color match ?
I have a young lady friend who has an '88 300E, silver in color. Well, one of her friends has dinged the front fender, and we have located a replacement on a '93 300E wreck in a yard a couple of states away, also silver in color. I'm afraid that I am unable to identfy the actual color codes in each case due to distance obstacles.
I'm certain that the replacement fender is actually silver, as opposed to charcoal gray, etc.
Does anyone know if the silver color was carried continuously from '88 thru '93? Or, did it change slightly? Obviously, we're trying to avoid the cost of some repaint work, which probably wouldn't match very well.
Please advise. Thanks!

You should find all the codes on:
Also look at the ID plate on the car which should show the paint code.
ID plate on the W124 may be on the radiator cross member.

Enzo, my Benzo
The only pure silver (not chapagne-ish smoke silver) showing on the W124 for the early years is the Pearl Grey 122. Brilliant Silver 744 was also available but only on the 1995 E320s
Hope that helps

91 300te 4matic
First off let me introduce myself... I live in Portland OR and I just purchased a 91 300TE 4matic yesterday...it is my first MB and German car for that matter...and my wrenchin' has only been on Subies and GM product so there is definately a learning curve going on here. I work in the collision industry so I have done some work on'em but very little. I did find that once you figure out how things work it is usually very easy to work'em..anyway please forgive me if I do ask some "stupid" questions from time to time... now to the question at hand...even if it's the same paint code in the same year their are more than likely 3-7 variances with that color and possibley more depending on the factory of origin (you see my ignorance on MB's) within the same year...evin if we have a "vindicated" paint code blending is MANDATORY on silvers, golds, tricoats, and so on...the line that I use can come close with a vin#,paint code, DOB, and country of origin but chances are it will not "butt" match no matter what...my advice...see if you have a paintless dent guy/girl close by to avoid any paintwork or..... get it...see if it's close enough for her...if not, get just get it squirted with blends? my shop would charge between 3-5 benjamins
