Did you use nightshades? You should remove the tint from the bottom half of the tails, just use some denatured alcohol and it won't damage the plastic. I used duplicolor metalcast in smoke to paint my tails but it comes out more grey than black.

Yeah I used niteshades. Cheap stuff. I think I actually just didnt use enough clear. I actually planned on taking it off the bottom half and polishing it out as well as possible. It looks pretty cheap.

You can't really clear coat nightshades because the clear will F uc k up the paint. Don't use any kind of thinner or polish to take off the paint. Like i said use denatured alcohol and it will leave them like new. I painted my tails like 4 times and remove the paint with that.
They used to be painted all red but now they are grey. I couldn't get a good picture but here are mine...

Did you sand first? Thats half the reason Mine look the way they do, because I sanded with 100 grit beforehand....

Nope, no sanding. I would have sanded mine if i was going to paint them with a black clear coat. I can change mine back to stock just by removing the paint with alcohol. What i did was to degrease the plastic and just cleaned them with a tack rag. I used duplicolor metalcast smoke paint and gave it very light mist of paint to make the first coat stick. After that i just counted the coats of paint to get an even color on both tails. Once I let them dry i just use rubbing compound to make them glossy.

The mistake was the sanding....you cant possibly sand the grooved tails like that 350Z.
You need to CLOSELY spray (3 or 4 inches away max) the clear on THICK.
I'll chop your pics tomorrow for a sig
