Digital Speedometer Conversion
Something crossed my mind the other day and I think it would be a neat project. My speedometer has quit once again after gluing the gears and countless fiddling. My new idea is converting the mechanical cable to a digital speedometer signal. I did notice that there are speedometer sender wires that come out of the back of my stock speedometer then there is of course the cable. Could I use the stock sender wires with a digital speedometer and leave the cable alone or do they work in correlation with each other?

i don't know who but there a quite a few companies that sell pieces to convert a mechanical signal to a digital signal. I dont think theres a kit for a mercedes so you'd be doing it all your self. Post pictures when your done.

however i am still looking for the reason that we have a cable and electronic signal for the speedometer. We might allready have a digital signal?
its cable driven speedo, so I would think that its not already digital, excluding the speed sensor....but an idea could be is to get a speedometer maybe from a W140, and see if that could work to convert to....this would be an interesting conversion....it would be nice to not have a wobbling speedometer needle
