Looking for a 300CE

Hey guys, need y'all to keep your eyes peeled for a clean 300CE for me. Got rid of the 300E today, the auction house took it back because the odometer was rolled back. Im liking the 2 doors more! Prefer in Canada but will buy from USA!

looking for 300CE

Dude for that price you could get a very nice 93-95 300E and do a 4.2 engine and ecu swap. That is a nice car but you can do alot with that much $$.

Why would you buy a 93-95 300E and swap in a 4.2L engine when you could just purchase a 400E or E420?

Still not the coupe that he wants...

Sounds crazy, but you may be on to something...has a AMG kit, including steering wheel.

Have you got a look at the engine yet...try to post pix of the engine.

Also post the VIN and I can see all the particulars of the car when delivered.

Not sure of the wheels as they are chrome and similar in style to my AMG replicas.

I will try and get the VIN # from them, what would you guys recommend as a fair price? Did these engines have the Headgasket problem also?

You want to look at the engine and if possible take a few pix.
What would make it valuable is if it is a 3.2L AMG M103-12V.
The most obvious identifier would be that the air filter housing has two air ducts going into it.
The VIN would give the info of what was on the car as options when delivered along with what country it was originally sold.

If it is a full AMG 3.2 Coupe, then it could have some value.

Get some pix of the engine !!!

That coupe is HOT...love body kit, and the color, LOL. I would almost be willing to give up my M119 sedan for that car, as long as I had the whip to drop a TT kit into it. Yummmm!

This is getting extremely interesting.
It's a left hand drive car that was delivered to Japan which is a right hand drive country.
The VIN shows the vehicle as a 1988 and doesn't indicate any AMG factory
part installation.
Possibly shipped to AMG Japan for the AMG install.
Japan did some AMG mods that you rarely see in the USA.
Engine pix please !!!

Note that it has a "face lift " front end ( hood, grille, etc ) that doesn't belong on the early C124.
Not sure but the wheel well lips appear to be rolled?
What size tires are on the car ?

I just joined the search party. 300CE's are more plentiful than I thought, found two Sportlines, and I'm also currently considering a 300CE cabriolet and two E320 cabs. Good luck to both of us (this will be the first used car I've bought in over 20 years, and considering my experiences with classic motorcycles, I am out of my mind ).

Cheers!

Buy the cab as the current market undervalues the cab more then the coupe.
If necessary, pay a premium to get a low mileage fully documented example.

Economy improves and the cab will jump significantly in value.

300TE / 300E / 300CE
In your search be aware of the CE differences:
  • 88-89 has the same as the 300E M103 12 valve SOHC with CIS-E
  • 90-92 has the early 3.0L M104 24 valve DOHC with CIS-E
  • 93 has the later more common 3.2L M104 24 valve DOHC with HFM-SFI
  • 94-95 has the 3.2L M104 with HFM-SFI, renamed E320 coupe with new styled hood, headlights, and trunk
(corrected)

If you're familiar working on the 300E, get the early CE with the same engine and EZL. The later versions can have VERY expensive EZL ignition control module failures. The (windshield back) body parts are costly in these beautiful coupes and the 92 and later years can have the wiring harness problems. On the other side, the later years have more power and better fuel economy, newer 134a AC refrigerant, and you'll generally find them with lower miles.
