Question 230CE is killing me - HELPPPPPPPPPP

hi all,

i am new memebr,

i really need help,

i have a 230 CE coupe mercedes,

the engine dosent start from the first time, i need to try six times then the engine start,

the car is very havey when i drive it, no kick down action,

smell of petrol from my backseats!!!!!!!!!!!!

when i look under the hood its a miss, disconnected wires and vacummes pipes, missing pipes ,

the thing that make me really angry is that the engine is fitted with new internal and gaskets, fully overhalled!!!

i also have some backfire some times,

buffffffffffffffffffffffff,

really need ur help guys,

i also tried to get the repair manual for my car, but i always get the same **** magazine every time i download it

Sounds like your MAS unit may be going bad. My car acted the same until the MAS finally died.

Mercedes benz 1991 300ce(RIP), now an 89 300ce
first off, bring the car to a benz mechanic to get all those vacuum tubes and such replaced, im sure thats causing quite a few problems if i had to guess. also, you can adjust your bowden cable so as to make the transmission a bit more responsive to the gas pedal

It´s always a good thing to check the basics. How old is your fuel filter, plugs, rotor, cap and leads.
Your OVP might also be bad. And the smell of fuel doesn´t sound right. Is your tank leaking or is there a leaking fuel line perhaps.. ?
-The tank is located behind your rear seat and accessed from the trunk. You must remove the panelling to see it properly.

How would you go about adjusting the bowden cable on a m104 motor?

<edit> Didn't mean to jack the thread, but I didnt think it was necessary to start a new one..

its right under the airbox...take it out and tighten to increase responsiveness and raise shifting points; and vice versa

I had a 230E here in the U.S., let me ask you something. You have a 2.3L 4cyl engine right? You should be able to get parts from a 190E for the 2.3L engine.

I think you can also get help on the 190e section since i'm sure there a lot of people with the 2.3L engine.
