Could be DIY, depends on skills... there's nothing to wind or tighten, it's all about replacement... Shoes and the springs. They go away fast out here, because it's learned in driving school, to pull the E-brake when ever on a sloap... Not true. If you leave youre car in gear (1'st for manual, or the "P" for automatic, whitch acts like in gear) there's no sloap, except those over 38deg. it will roll off... You deff. have to change youre shoes and springs if it does roll while in "free".

You probably need to change your shoes and the springs like dan c said. There is a a bolt that u can use to loosen and tighten it in the middle of the car where the two e-brake cables meet. It should be a DIY job since i had to do this when i took off my wheel carriers..
lol. But yea, I need to get that fixed, ASAP. I literally have no emergency brake :S
