Halogen Bulbs..

LOL! ![Big Grin](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
The lights are good. No scratches, no water whatsoever. They did fog up a bit though at one point when I took the glass off the clean a fingerprint inside. I guess I left some water vapour in there. It has not reappeared since. I've tried using a strong hose over it and they held up fine.
Having said that though, I haven't had the chance to drive the car much at all. I noticed a few days ago that my tax ran out on the 21 Dec
and there was no one to tax and MOT it during the holidays. Running around in a piece of junk at the moment (arm rest broke after 8000miles!!
to DaimlerCHRYSLER) LOL
Anyway I think the lights would be fine as regards water. The seals are quite good but if you do get them, make sure to inspect the seals. When mine arrived the seals were nice but they didn't sit properly so I took them off and put them back in and that created a nice seal.
Well, nice enough anyway

Hmmm, I suppose I could always just put some silicon sealer around the edge of the housing at the seal just in case. I think new housings first, HID/Projectors down the road. I think that just having glass housings without fluting will make my light output a ton better.
Edit: What bulbs are the new housing?

i have to admit, that i thought projectors really made our cars look a little weird, because they just don't go with the shape of the car. a lot of it had to do with the fact that they were very new to the w124, but now with so many people (on here, not on the roads!) having them on their cars, it doesn't look so weirdly different any more.
couple that with the fact that they just give better light output, and it's hard to not go for it, like i'm doing right now.
for people who want the HID's with no projectors, just be wary, because they really do throw out a lot of glare. a LOT. and i should know, because i've had them on my stock lights for a while now. using bulbs with the shields on them help a fair amount though. if you look at some acuras for example like the CL's that have HID's but no projectors, they have clear lenses, and the housings have the shields on them that block light from hitting the lower part of the reflector bowl.
also, like Zorro said, those Bosch thinks look mighty fake to me too, but i too have some of these generic HID kits and i haven't had any problems with it yet. i bought it for $100 a while ago.

I have euro's with HID's and the lighting is much nicer.... I don't have the sharp cut-off like some people love with projectors... however the HID light output causes reflective surfaces like fog lines and street signs to illuminate much better, hence giving better visibility with reduced glare.

i went from old yellow bulbs straight to HID, so the difference was amazing, everything is nice and white, street signs, etc. then i realized i must be blinding everyone, so i adjusted them totally down, pointing to the ground. but even now, i can be on the highway, and if a pass under a highway sign going over the top of the road, the d@mn thing will stay lit up even when i'm right under it, so basically the light is shining all over the place still, even straight up!
i see a lot of cars on the roads here like that, and to me now it looks a little silly, which is why i took them out. they do sell bulbs now with the built in shield over the lower half of the bulb, but they never had those when i bought mine. i was going to mod my current housing to block half the HID capsule, but then just went with projectors instead.
my personal opinnion is that if you want to put HID's in the OEM lights, try to have a shield on the bulbs or in the housing, because even if you're not blinding everyone when you adjust your beams down, you will still annoy them.
that's just my opinion though, i drove around with them for months, so i can't really preach too much, they looked hot

95 e320...sold the rest
I just don't want to spend the money for the kit. Are there any halogens out there that have that bright blue/white glow like HID's? (That you know of)...I have silver-stars now...but I want the blue glow...not just the crisp white

the size you want is H4
the PIAA's are expensive, but they should hopefully last. i used to hear good things about Nokya bulbs, they're cheaper than the PIAAs.
or you cold just do like crr1612 said and go for the cheap ones on ebay or at your parts store... they don't last too long, but they're really cheap and bright

My bro has PIAA's in his CE with euros...they are fine, but I have actually seen brighter performance out of some of the new Sylvania Silverstar bulbs. If you do get PIAA's do not get the ones that try to copy the color of HID's since it is just a film on the bulbs that robs lumens from the output.

Yeah. I was about to get into the whole "you are canadian" thing, so its best we stop now and agree that: We all need HIDs with projectors/cut-off, we all need them in whatever housing we want to put them in, and these cars rock.
Oh, and the writers strike sucks.
