'93 300TE Needs New Suspension - Any suggestions?

Hello all,

I think the suspension on my wagon is gone. It bounces and "thunks" on any type of bump in the road and it just doesn't feel solid or comfortable in any way. I don't expect it to feel like the Airmatic system in the w211 but I'm almost certain it needs replacing.

My question is, do you guys have some suggestions on a good suspension setup? I don't want to sacrifice comfort for looks in any way. This wagon is strictly for hauling the kids around so I am not trying to enter it into any shows or anything. Any advice or experience in having these changed out?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Brian.

Thanks for the advice but may I ask what are accumulators? I know nothing about repairs on these vehicles, so forgive my ignorance. Do you normally take that into a dealership to have replaced or would you recommend going to a 3rd-party shop for the work?

So lost...

This has been covered extensively, so I would recommend a search of the forum for details... These are essentially nitrogen filled spheres (2) that have a diaphragm that separates the hydro fluid and gas... this acts as the shock absorber for the rear suspension since hydro fluid has no give when under pressure... this acts as the "give" to create a smoother ride in the rear. These are a common issue for these cars as they get older so don't feel alone. I have replaced a pair on my TE and my doctors TE. Buy extra fluid when you do the swap so that you can flush the system.

Depending on your budget, you might consider some sway bar, spring, bushing and damper upgrades.

I've been eyeballing some Sportline pieces....just not ready to pull the trigger just yet.

Thanks for the tips guys. I'll do some research on what you suggested. Right now the wagon doesn't get driven much at all but that may be changing soon so I want to get it in tip-top shape.

Since it's a third car for a family with only two drivers, we're debating as to whether or not to keep it. I want to see if we can invest a little money in it and keep it for at least another year or so before selling it.

Thanks again guys...
