my steering wheel has a groan to it when I turn the wheel

this is definitely INSIDE the steering column

has anyone encountered this?

i want to address this, it sounds cheap....

I've heard it sometimes, seems to only be on left hand turns. I know nothing about it however

check your power steering fluid level and make sure it's on par.

the sound is like a rubbing sound inside the steering column

maybe i just need to take it apart and clean it up....

If it is a groan, that means that you have air in the power steering fluid. This fluid should always be checked and the filter should be changed if you have never done so... most people don't realize that there IS a filter in the bottom of the reservoir.

The sound that you are hearing is most likely a contact sound in the steering column. I would remove the bottom dash panel below the steering wheel and inspect the shaft and surrounding parts to look for wear.

Didnt think this problem was a big deal.. i get it usually in the morning after a few turns its all good though.
Ill have to add that to the list
