Sagging drivers seat

Overall I'm pleased with my 87 300D, however the drivers seat sags quite a bit and needs attention. I did a search and that didn't answer my Q. Instead of rebuilding the seat what about fitting a seat from newer model. Is there a replacement that would fit right in. The heaters work on both seats and it would be a shame to lose that option though.

it is likely that a spring inside the seat has broken, and these are not repairable due to the fact that it is a special spring steel that cannot be welded. I have repaired a number of seats like this on w123's and w124s by taking a passenger seat from a donor car and using that seat bottom for the drivers side. The passenger seats are often like new since they get little use. This also allows you to keep your interior looking the same and also it allows you to keep your heated seat feature (you are so lucky).

If you don't feel comfortable taking out the drivers seat and pulling it apart, just take it into an upholstery shop with the new-used passenger seat bottom for them to swap.

The seats are different in the newer models so I would stick with a passenger seat from an 86 - 89 model.

Thats a great idea. I agree, the passenger seat is like new so taking the bottom from one sounds like a plan. I think I'll find a shop to do it though.

LOL! No, you don't. It's beautiful at first like in MFB's pic, but after it snows the temp drops to about 5°F and a week later it is still sitting around everywhere in the form of dark gray slush that gets tracked into your car, garage, house, etc. Depending on where you live it can stick around for months messing stuff up. If the cost of living was the same in Cali as it is in the Midwest, I'd be there in a second. But so would everyone else!

Yeah, the snow is fun at first but I am so over it right now. Walking on icey sidewalks and streets absolutely sucks. I like snow, for skiing, but not where I live.
