Angry Buzzer from Hell

Greetings- Has anyone disconnected or modified the incredibly annoying pre start buzzer? My car is a '91 300E, and the buzzer is the worst thing about it. Thanks.

I looked into changing it with a chime, but it's burried deep within the dashboard and seemed to be way too much work.

Just plug in your seat belt before you turn on the ignition and you won't hear it.

Thanks for the reply. What about just eliminating any kind of warning sound all together (in other words just cutting the wire)? Any idea how? Thanks!

buzzer

The buzzer is easily reached behind your instrument cluster. It is an aluminium colored box, about 1"x1"x1" secured with a screw to the chassis. Just make it sound after removal of your cluster. You'll have no trouble to find it. All you have to do is disconnect it.

But remember that this annoying sound will remind you that your lights are on when you turn your car off, as well as that you left your key on the ignition when you open the door, and of course to buckle up.
Is it worth to disconnect it? I think not.

Rafael is right. First behind the cluster you can find it, and second dont cut it off, just change the sound by stuffing it with kleenex or wrap it with something to reduce the noise. I took of the cover and closed the cover with hot glue. Now it's there but quieter.

Thumbs up

Thanks for the advice. I think you guys are right in leaving it functional but trying to minimize its annoyance factor. Thanks again, and happy Thanksgiving!
