Do you guys have any suggestions of 93 400e specific things to look for as warning signs or just common things to look out for. It has a clean CARFAX and is running 147,000 miles. let me know if you have any pointers. You guys have been very helpful so far in narrowing down what I really wanted.

Thanks

Gary

That car may be one of the models with the wiring harness problem (deteriorating wire insulation). I think they started using that crappy insulation in '93. Look for service records that show it has been replaced.

Hey guys,

I started looking at the other threads and that is super helpful. I got a benz dealer down the street form the place I am going that will do a Benz inspection for $180.00 if I feel like I need it. Here is a link to the car with about 30 pics. Thanks again for the input.

That's alot of car for short money...but do yourself a favor and find out if it's been cared for.

Otherwise, you'll end up with about twice the amount you paid for in work.

with that amount of miles you right at the point where you are going to need the following if they have not yeat already been replaced:

radiator (plastic hose neck fail and it's not repairable)
radiator hoses
thermostat
viscous fan/clutch
rotors/caps

things to watch for:

wiring harness
ignition wires
overflow tank

basically anything that can get dried and and become brittle due to under-hood temperatures, which are very high with the v-8 stuffed in that engine bay. I have heard that removing the belly pan can help significantly BTW.

With those things in order, it is a great car to drive!
