1991 Mercedes 300CE
300CE few pics of the possible problem

Here i got few pics and what it looks like some sort of sensor that is broken and its not connected, i was just wondering if that Small Part showing in the picture has a big affect in the cars performance and if someone can tell me what is that called so i can search to buy it. thanx

Looks like either a mangled hot film mass air flow sensor or an intake air temp sensor. In either case there should be a hole for it in the intake between the air filter and the throttle plate.

According to the manual it's a camshaft position sensor. Mine has exposed wires and occasionally prevents my CE from starting.

You're right. It may also prevent the valve timing from advancing which will reduce power output.

If its that timing sensor then its going to cost you a lot of money and its a special order piece. I think it was like 300 dollars for that little sensor, if not more. Oh make sure you have the O-ring that goes with that or you'll have a nice oil leak( from experience)
