BAD Camshaft Position Sensor

I have a 1991 300CE and the Camshaft Position Sensor is broken and its not connected at all. Do you guys think that this is why my car is having less power of what it should? Please let me know, any help would help , thanks alot.

camshaft snesor

With every car I have ever worked on when the camshaft sensor goes out or is disconnected the car either won't run or barely runs. Are you sure it is the CPS or something else. Ether way it would be best to replace it.

Well to be honset with you it runs but ask me how it runs, it runs horrible, i mean this is a 300CE 24valve its supposed to have alot of power and fast, but it doesnt run well at all. ANd plus the Camshaft Position Sensor isnt connected at all, it just hangs in there because i think its broken i dont know why it doesnt stay in.

thanks to all of you for your help

Without the sensor it will throw a code and will not advance the valve timing. The variable valve timing plays a big part in top end power on the M104 engine. You need to study the diagrams posted by pifcat2 in your other thread and determine what else you may be missing beside the sensor.
