I know someone who may be able to duplicate and improve replacements for less than the $800 to $1500 most pay. He wants to evaluate wiring and parts. The original connectors will be reused. He does this service for old Porsches harnesses.

It's about time somebody with the resources stepped up and made a cottage industry out of this. The dealer price can make this very attractive for somebody.

Unfortunately, I already replaced my wiring harness, but I still have the old one.

I have an upper wiring harness from a 1993 500E ...you want it? You pay the shipping if so. PM me.

Anything he does would be an improvement over the Castor Bean editions that were OE from the factory.

Me too. I'll check if I took the part home but it is likely I let the dealer keep it.

Whatever happened with this? Refurbished wiring harnesses sound great - but what about harnesses modified so they no longer degrade so quickly? If the connectors are the only thing re-used then I am guessing they are using newer wiring that will withstand the various 'challenges' from an engine compartment.

Thanks.

Here are the other threads, basically my source could not to rebuild it even at cottage industry labor rates to compete with the $700-900 prices they can be purchased new. The last possibility is the poster with off-shore connections...

Please could you ask him if he can make a tagged/ labelled wiring harness for a 1969 BMW 2002, and approximately how much it would be? Thx
