1/4 Mile Times
Finally got to the track yesterday.
Temp around 40F and my Falken FK452's have less then zero traction even with 24PSI in cold weather.
Managed two runs...
First launched hard and smoked both rear tires for an 1/8 mile.
Ran 13.92 in the 1/8 @ 61.55mph and 19.721 in the 1/4 but with a trap speed of 89.83mph.
Once it hooked in third gear it made some mph.
Second run just left in in drive, idled off the line and gingerly pushed it to a 9.362@77.47mph 1/8 and a 14.392 @ 98.68mph 1/4.
Sixty foot time was still 2.371 which was wheel spin from a gentle launch.
With traction it should go mid to high thirteens @ low 100mph.
Tempted to get a set of Goodrich drag radials but I'm getting too old for this stuff.
First time at a drag strip in thirty seven years.....
Very pleased with the performance as the M103-12V TT is running like a Merc V8

Very nice Ed! Have you posted the slips and what-not to dragtimes.com?
Heres me & mine http://www.dragtimes.com/Mercedes-Be...slip-9340.html
Thats awesome! You are never too old for the things you enjoy, I say, get those drag radials, and have a go at it in some nice 65degree weather or so, and let rip

95 e320...sold the rest
Last time I ran at the track I hit 16.42 in the quarter on new tires, and no seats besides the driver's.
I'm going back this weekend to Gateway International for Friday Night Madness and we'll see if we can do a little better! The first run was on a full tank though. So this time I think I'll run it with about a quarter or a little less

Yes I did post, right underneath you !!!
Going to make another attempt next Wednesday night.
Will increase rear tire pressure to 32psi and run more then a half tank of gas.
Not worried about increasing weight, just trying to get traction.
My street tires obviously didn't hook up at 24psi in cold weather, so might as well experiment.
Problem with drag radials is that in 18" size they are all too wide for my wheel wells.
Would have to buy 17" wheels and run P225/45R-17 drag radials...not worth the $500.00 investment.
Just want to get into the thirteens and will try initially with the street tires.
Hopefully next week the temps will be in the sixties !

Haha, awesome! I got a notification from Dragtimes.com that another 300ce had posted records in my inbox, so I'm looking right now. That car is putting down some serious HP. Have you thought of bringing it to a road course track as well for some fun in the twisties? You must film that if you do

I think about too many things
I got a lot of cosmetic trim work to do on the W113 280SL I got late last year.
Waiting for some warm weather as it has been unusually cold and damp for this time of year.
Old bones need to warm up to move !!!

Impressive numbers ! Every bit as fast as a 500E.
Best my (stock) car has ever done was a 14.023 which was at sea-level...but with the cooling fans on it does a 14.5-6 which would leave me looking at your tailites !

Hope to get three to four runs.
Trying something different with rear tire pressure. The Falken FK-452's seemed to lose traction at 24psi, so I'll run this time at 32psi.
Ambient temp should be in the fifties, maybe sixty and the track may have built up a better surface.
I'll post the results as I'm looking for a mid to high thirteen and low one hundred trap.
Once I get there, I'll go back into retirement
