Wheels... A quick question

What centre bore measurements do our 124s have?
Does anyone get wheels with smaller centre bores and then bore them out?
Do we have to have the correct centre bore?

Cheers

Yes you can, I've done everything possible that can be done to a wheel. ( I also sell wheels )

Yes, you need the correct center bore so the rim can sit on the bore instead of the lugs. If you want to drive fast and your center bore is too big just get some hub centric rings.

Cheers mate.
So all 5x112 rims can be bored out to the correct centre bore? I found some rims but they are in Audi bore.. I guess with a 5x112 that means there is room in the middle for me to bore out? I don't really want to get them and to find that it can't be done

Cheers

Yes but audi wheels have a 14mm lug bolt. You will need either sleeves on the bolt or something to put them on. I had audi wheels on my car before but didn't really like the offset.

Hmm.. Can I not use the lug bolts that I have on my AMGs now? Wouldn't they fit?
The Audi rims that I'm interested in are the same offset as mine now so I should be good to go..
Not sure how safe it is to enlarge the centre bore though...

You have 12mm bolts right now and I used 2mm plastic sleev cut to size. If there is enough meat on the bore then it's safe because they only have to bore in about 4-5mm.

I'm by no means a wheel expert but I guess by 12mm 14mm you mean the bolt head right? If so, then wouldn't it be oK for me to use my existing bolts instead of the Audi ones?
From my understanding, the bore is there to help balance the wheel under high speed rather than take the pressure right? If so then I guess I'm safe with 4-5mm..

Cheers.

the hole in the wheel is wider than your lug bolt

Ok, let me explain a little better. The audi wheel has a smaller center bore which needs to be bored out to 66.59 from I think 57.1. You need to see if there is 10mm of meat on the back of the wheel that came be bored in 4-5mm. Once you do that the wheel is going to sit on the hub properly. Now about the lug bolts, you will need conical lug bolts (right) like showned in the picture below. Mercedes wheels use a ball seat ( left) and are 12mmx1.5. The next problem is that audi wheels have larger lug bolt holes which are 14mm. That's a 2mm difference from the lug bolts you need. You can get a plastic sleeve to center the bolt on the wheel and you shouldn't have any problems. The sleeve has to be 2mm in thickness and about 3mm wide.

Cheers to both of ya!
Think I'm dropping the idea then. Far too much work. I was thinking about 18" A8s..
Now I'll go have a look at BBS 15" deep dishes.. If I can't find any, I'm just gona go with some Japanese rims..

Hmm.. Well, haven't been driving the car at all so I'm not sure how it rides. At least right after I got the pads off I didn't feel a difference as regards ride quality..
If you remember, I'm the high pressure hose guy. There's a high pressure hose on the top coil of my springs to somehow eliminate metal to metal contact. How long that lasts I don't know.
The height change was minimal but again, I didn't let the car settle. I'll have to cut the rear springs soon though.. Whatever gives me that extra 10mm I need..
Let me know if you need anything else. Cheers

Yo! What the max wheel offset we can go on a 300e... say for example 18x8". I know 17x7.5" rims will fit i was just wondering how wide can we go to keep a clean look. 7.5-8.5" max?

Well... the rims im looking at are 18x8.5 or 19x8.5. But Really leaning towards the 18x8.5. Yes those wheels look flushed. Does not stick out. MY main goal is to lower the 300e with 18x8.5. What do ya think?

Zorro - You could have typed the answer if they fit in the same amount of time it took you to type that sentence.

Hellafresh - You can fit 18x9 with the right offset and rolled fenders.

I'm sure I could have but laziness bothers me.
