cruise control
I have an '88 300E, the cruise control does not work. Sometimes it kicks in, and the car starts accelerating by itself, but doesnt hold speed at all, I have to brake to turn it off. What could be causing this?

Mine's only active at about 35mph or above, and holds speed well enough. You have to push the stick up (vert) to increase speed and pull down (vert) to decrease speed. Brake/accel is how you take it out of cruise control anyway

If it engages by itself it is probably bad switch (the stalk on the left).

cruise control
When my CC went bad, i had to get a new CC amplifier. it is located lateral to your left foot behind the panel. I think it just plugs in and it took them an hour or so of labor....fixed the problem. I think they have a test unit to tell if yors is bad. My amplifier cost under 100 on ebay.
