NO!!! It won't start!!

So I get in my car yesterday after school, and I hear a clicking noise sorta like a blinker coming from the passenger floorboard. My radio, gauges, and lights would turn on, but the engine wouldn't turn over..

I looked outside the car and realized my headlight, corners, and tails were blinking along with the noise I heard inside the car. So maybe my alarm is shorting out?

I started off by taking out the fuse for the hazards, and they just kept blinking. So I decided to disconnect the battery...and that was that for the flashing obviously.

I got my jump-start unit and attempted to jump it, and even that didnt work! So i'm thinking theres something wrong with my alarm??

Someone please help me out here...! Thanks

What kind of an alarm is it?

I had the same thing happen to me, there is a wire on the main alarm controll box, called ignition lock wire, you need to find a schematic of your alarm box and tottaly disconect that wire. If you can't find the wire than disconect the main plug that give's the alarm unit power. Keep you positive lead on the battery disconected while you do anything.

I found the alarm box thing under the carpet in the passenger side footwell. I disconnected the 2 plugs and re-connected them, and still nothing...

Your factory alarm control may be toast. IIRC, I had to replace mine on my 300CE several years ago.

Now this is getting weird....

I'm working on it today during my lunch break, and out of nowhere, the alarm starts going off and I cant stop it by using the key in the driver's door. The only way it stops is when I put the key in the trunk and turn it that way!

But now that it starts...my check engine light has gone off...which has been on for the past 2 weeks.

Would spilling something on the window switches and in the hole that the shift shaft affect this? I cleaned it up pretty quickly. Although the whole shifter was full of beer thanks to my drunk passenger. I got it out real fast, but that was over the weekend (friday)...so why mess up now??

The trouble I experienced with my alarm some years ago was due to the controller. I had intermittent symptoms, so I had it checked and it needed replacement.

It's much easier to fix it than get stranded at a bad time.

Sounds like you need wire cutters and 2 wire nuts to fix that. I didn't know the factory alarm disabled the starter. I could never stand the blaring horn long enough to try to start it.

I've had the EXACT same noise. I thought it was my blinkers too but the noise was coming from the passenger floorboards. I still haven't got round to figuring it out....but its definitely the alarm system. This could be a big battery drain right there.

by-passing the factory alarm

you can also by-pass the factory for now so you don't get stranded. in both front doors there is a plastic plug right by the lock mechanism ( i believe that it is above it). if you pull it out inside you will some wires that have a plug in the middle. if you pull apart the plug it will disconnect the alarm. when you replace the control box just reconnect the plug adn it will reactivate you alarm.
