Getting lots of looks this spring

I feel like I am being noticed more than ever this spring. My car looks the same as always, but I wonder if maybe my classic looking W124 stands out a bit more now that other cars are getting more and more modern. The first two photos are from this morning and early this afternoon parked at work, respectively. The close-up is from the weekend wash in my driveway.

I really like those wheels...especially since it's lowered a little bit.

Your car is definitely cool!!! I guess my car is cool too, but to me my car seems more gorgeous than cool. It isn’t a girlie car at all. In fact I think my car has always had a masculine persona, but it is just very pretty too. For some reason recently it has been even prettier and gleams like a beautiful gem in the early morning spring sun.

I really do think it has something to do with the classic look of our W124 cars, as they were designed so many years ago, and the fact that my aging car has been so well maintained. It may also just be spring fever here in Pennsylvania. It just feels so good to have the weather change. Everyone is getting back outside and everyone is looking around at everything from the flowers blooming to my shiny car. I am happy because I get to cruise around in my clean car with my windows down again.

If I recall, not too long ago, weren't you going to buy a "more modern" looking Kia or something Asian...and you hated your W124

I love it, I love it not, I love it.......

At times, it has definitely been a love-hate thing, as I tried to indicate with the message in my signature. One day I woke up and found that I had all kinds of issues that would be very expensive to repair. Now, however, after quite a bit of time has passed since I first became aware of all things that seemed to be self destructing on my car, those broken things seem to be hanging in there. I really have not had to fix much of anything. The stuff didn’t fix itself, but it also has not stopped me from driving the car and everything seems to be working OK. In fact, now I think I could stomach doing one or two of the repairs, since I have not just been on a spending spree fixing other things. I am very pleased!!!

Your car and the scenery are both beautiful. Glad to see you getting back together with your ex! Spring has definitely come to PA. My grass is still somewhat brown. I understand how you feel in the spring when everything starts coming to life again. In 10 days I'll be on a one-way flight to St. Croix where it's always summer so I won't have to deal with the winter dreariness in the Midwest anymore. There is at least one W124 on the island. Maybe I'll buy it! Since there's no MB dealer there and an older couple owns it, they'd probably sell it for a song.

I think you are showing off the camera now. Those are some really great shots and really do speak to the outstanding aesthetics of these cars...amazing that they still turn this many guys on well over a decade after the last ones rolled out of production.

Even though it is beautiful in PA this time of year, I would love to get away too. I am dreaming of Italy, or maybe at least England, but the devalued dollar isn’t making it any easier for me to pull the trigger and actually schedule the trip. I hope you have a great vacation!

The setting for my home is very nice, but the house is really just a rather normal plastic house. It certainly isn’t a castle with a new M3 parked outside, like FiFth_StreetZ. Plus, as I think you pointed out in the past, I am a very old dude compared to many of you. When you guys are as old as me, I’m sure you will have nicer cars and nicer homes.

I am definitely not a great photographer with a real artistic eye, but these new little digital cameras really do take pretty good point and shoot shots. I’m sure an artist with a better camera, like Zorro, could do a much better job capturing the beauty of my car and the beauty of spring in PA.

I am proud of the way I have taken care of the car. Anyone can go out an buy or lease a good looking new car, but there is a different pride of ownership that comes from maintaining a car over a long period of time. It really does become a kind of relationship.

Thanks! Actually I am relocating there with the intent of never coming back. My wife's family owns a couple of businesses there. In addition to the weather and scenery, I love the fact that there are no speed limits enforced on the island. None of the police have radar detectors so they can't write tickets!

Since the 6th largest refinery in the world is on the island, gas is cheap, too!

St. Croix- US Virgin Islands. Actually gas is only about 20 cents a gallon cheaper but it helps. No local income taxes, no sales tax, low property and vehicle tax, and very good cheap Rum (Cruzan, locally produced) and cheap cigarettes. If you get caught drinking and driving they take your drink, not your keys.

Unfortunately, bud is also cheap easy to come by, and I don't mean the beer.

Hi there Ksing....can you tell me what the color code is for your car? In some pics our cars look very similar, but in others your's look much "blue-er(ish-ness)". LOL.
