How to Hard-Wire LEDs..?
Alright...well I'm tired of using my cigarette lighter to power my LED's on my dash..so I want to hard wire them in. Is there anyway to do this, or possibly a write-up on it somewhere?
Or maybe someone on here has done this already?
Thanks

Honestly, all you need to do is find a switched 12v source somewhere in your dash (or better yet, wire one specifically for LEDs from the battery) then calculate the correct voltage...ohms law. Then its just a matter of connecting/soldering wires.......
E/I=R Or Voltage divided by current equals resistance therefore if your LEDs operating specs are 2.2 volts @ 20ma (milliamps is current) and the power source on your car is at say, 14 volts. 2.2v-14v=11.8v therefore 11.8 divided by 20ma equals 590 Ohms (resistance) (11.8/.02=590) so in this case your LED will be running at the correct volatge and current as they are proportional. The resistor serves mainly as a current limiter and keeps your LED safe from burning out.
