Front left ball joint. They are sealed so grease wont work. The shop quoted me $600CAD - I laughed and did it myself through trail and error. Only one cheap way to fix it and it sucks. I'm sure there is a thread about it here somewhere. It entails removing the control arm yourself, which means every thing attached to it as well, having someone (a shop) press out the old and in with the new. I thought I could just smash it out lol dont try this. One piece of advise is if you really cant stand the sound but intend on fixing the car soon, I mean very soon, you can poke a hole in the plastic seal (part which hold the grease) with a large syringe, like for filling ink cartridges, and inject grease in there. Only works for a short period of time though. If this is the problem I hope this helps!
i've had to replace my front right ball joint, i'd have to say that i was most worried for my safty using the shop press to remove the old ball joint, specially since i dont have any mb special tools to hold the control arm in place while pressing... and my old ball joint really did not wanna come out. saddest thing for me right now is i gotta do it again for the front left side.
