5 speed swap options

5 speed swap options
I've been reading that the 5 speed manual from certain 190 models will fit the 300E (M103), does anyone have more information about what years will fit, or what transmissions are better than others? I plan to install some type of forced induction eventually, so I would like to use a trans that can hold up to about 300hp.

I also have done some extensive research about a 5spd swap. the 16V is a direct swap. However other 5spd 190E trannys bolt right up to the M103 housing . The deciding factor is if you can locate the correct single mass flywheel. I'm pretty sure this information is correct, if not someone please correct me. I also plan on doing a forced induction setup, the Megasquirt II V3.0 is being assembled for EDIS-6 Spark and a EFI setup. If all goes well I hope to make a small writeup with pictures on the install then next summer or during next college semester a turbo kit will start being sourced. BTW PUMPISH claims the stock automatic 4 speed transmission can handle up to 350hp or so, not too sure how true this is though. Insight anyone?

Well, I plan on sourcing all the swap parts from ebay or the local salvage yard for both the 5 speed swap and whatever type of forced induction I decide to use. Knowing now that I can't get a LSD for the car, I'm going to aim for the most controllable/tractable power adder I can... so I'm leaning toward a roots supercharger. Probably a used Eaton M90 from a T-bird SC, with a chinese FMIC. Fueled via a split second AIC. Just throwing prices together based on my last custom SC project, I'm figuring I can put the forced induction together for about $600 (less if I can find the SC at the local yard). I already have some of the parts on hand (misc sized fuel injectors, misc IC pipes and connectors).
So, most likely the FI will be done before the 5 speed swap. The clutch is the expensive part from the looks of it... a new one is $500 or more (from what I've seen online). I don't like using used clutches.

The only compatible single mass flywheel is from the 190e 2.6 Sportline manual trans vehicle. It is no longer available for order from Mercedes or Speed Autoteile.
Good luck finding one used.

Oh yea, you can modify almost any flywheel. I think there are issues with sensors that need to be dealt with, but its been so long, I don't remember the details of how or what needs to be modified.
