Looks more like the M103-24V from the 300CE-24.
Uses the K-Jet injection, has a distributor that fires the plugs instead of the coil packs that the M104-24V uses.

Air cleaner indicates the K-Jet and see how narrow the cam cover is..

Rarely see this engine in the USA

That is M104 early model engine, with the K-jet injection and distributor, I believe mercedes were using this engine on a late model 1990-1993 CE and late model of 320SEL w140 body style.

In Europe it was commonly called the 3.0L M103-24V, which was officially the 3.0L M104.980 variant of the M103.980.

In essence the 3.0L M103 with a DOHC head and KE injection.

The 24V variant known in the USA is the M104.992 with the HFM injection and spark coils.

The original 24V K-jet engine was used a few years in Europe before the later 24V HFM engine was introduced.

For the most part the USA went from the 3.0L SOHC M103 to the 2.8L and 3.2L M104-24V

I belive earlier model for 24V USA version w124CE has M104.980 with 3.0L w/KE injection , and also for earlier model W140 they came with M104.990 with 3.2L reference to this link or check autohauz site , I might be wrong...

I had to go ahead and just put some replacement rubber on my stock 15's. Down the line I am going to go 17 but I may be looking to upgrade to a 420 so i don't want to put a lot of money into the car right now as I may sell it. Thank anyway.
