And Vili, thats a really good point. Any C36 engine you find is most likely going to be from a totalled car. Not necessarily a good idea.

Also, youre very right about the twin turbo option. I believe RBYCC is making numbers above that of even a 500E. Plus, for those that ARE worried about what your engine bay would look like, what beats two shiny, turbos every time you pop the hood? Not to mention the sound of them spooling up every time you hit the gas.

Did somebody say, BOV?

If your engine is in good condition, give that some serious consideration.

Not an LS1 but rather a 4.6 Ford V-8.
Mark if you put an LS-1 motor in your car....

He's looking for a large noticeable amount of power, and the 16v wouldn't make all that much of a difference compared to a c36 or the m119.

kind of pointless to mention or dicuss about any engine swap if you're not going to go with a bigger powerplant...

Yeah but you're clearly not "thinking" if you are going to swap what you have for a higher-strung, higher-revving, less reliable 16V motor with the same amount of power you have now....if you want to just waste money, I'll send you my paypal....

with gas prices costing me as much as a pair of jeans or sneakers to fill up my tank, and since my car is all show and no go anyways, i would consider a smaller engine...!

Hey, Canon;

IMHO,
Finding a good, low-mileage 16V engine may be hard to find, and rebuilding it would be expensive for parts.
Extremely expensive for stroker kit or anything to get more than 190hp.

I don't think you'd find the 16V enjoyable.
To get any torque out of the 16V, you've gotta row the gears all the time to keep it at 4000 revs. Fun in the W201, but draggin' that extra weight around with a softer sprung W124 wouldn't be as rewarding.

Also, no point to that motor without the 5-speed

Sorry. Good Luck.

As is the only plausible reason to transplant an m119 as opposed to just upgrading the car.

The obvious hurdle I see with doing an ls1 swap (besides some fabrication) would be getting the computer systems (ABS/TCS/etc) working with one. It would be required to swap in the computer from an ls1, and I'm not sure, but suspect that all of our systems are controlled by that one computer under the hood.

Should be able to pick up a 4th gen camaro to gut for less than a m119 engine once the 5th gen is released though...

Misconceptions

A smaller engine (than what the car already has) rarely IF ever equates to better mpg. Actually a large engine or squeezing more power out of an engine can result in better mpg. More power from an engine = a higher efficiency. So if anyone is going to...go bigger...go more...OR GO HOME!
