1993 300 e
oil filter tool

This may sound silly to a lot of you, but im having so much trouble getting someone with sense to tell me what i need to remove the oil filter......i have a 1995 300e....thanx

Not silly at all. Its not exactly in the easiest of places to get a hold of.

Your profile says 93 but im pretty sure both years would be the same. I got mine off by clamping a large pair of vice grips onto the top as hard as possible, then using another clamp to get leverage on the vice and turn it. Im not sure if there is a specialized tool available to us to make this job easier, but that worked like a charm for me.

I purchased a tool from AutoZone that fits perfectly and only cost about $3. It is a cap style wrench that allows you to use a 3/8" drive ratchet. There are several sizes and it is difficult to get the correct one so here is the information from the one that I bought.
OEM brand 'Oil Filter "B" Cap Wrench" 25401
Or you can get the official MB wrench for about $50.
