OVP stands for Over Voltage Protection Relay. Basically it is a voltage regulator / fuse that protects your electrical components from getting fried in the case of a surge or spike in voltage. The reason it needs to be replaced is because the contacts get coroded or weak over time and it causes the engine to sputter or have a rythmic surge. If you look at yours ( located on the side of your ECU) the old one will have only one fuse while the replacement is a two fuse unit. Hope that helps
