Do you have a subwoofer?!!?

sorry couldn't resist.

I think the fuel relay is located in a cluster of fuel pump stuff under the chasis along the side of the car. But there are guys who will tell you more specifically where to look.

The subwoofer thing is an old inside joke.

Look under the car on the passenger side (i think) and you will see the fuel lines coming up to the front from the tank. The cool thing is the entire fuel pump assembly is outside the gas tank so if you really have to you can slap a new on where it is sitting. The fuel pump and relay are unmisstakable it will have fuel hose in and out and some electical components plugged into it just front of the rear axel acouple of feet i think. I have a book in my car and I will go check it out and repost for you.

first, i thought the power antenna might be the issue. i don't have a subwoofer so it cant be the subwoofer.

What year is your car. The relay is under the hood in the compartment that holds the battery but depending on what year you have will it is in different places in there.

The fuel relay/kickdown is the one toward the front. you should be able to get the part number of the module or you could just tell the dealership what you need and let them look it up.

Good luck.

I just replaced my fuel pump relay and OVP relay. The fuel pump relay was behind the fusebox ('behind' as in closer to the cabin, not underneath the fusebox) under the hood, on the driver's side of the car. I had to unscrew the top of the fusebox to get at it, since the relays are covered up and not accessib;e when you just open the fusebox cover. the fuel pump relay was a small green cube with a fuse on it.
the ovp was behind the battery, behind the black plastic shield/cover. it's a small unit with a fuse on the top, and a clear plastic cover over the fuse.
my car is a 95, so i'm not sure if it will be the same for yours.

Just above the OVP is 2 relays, the one in the front is the Fuel and kickdown relay. They use the same relay for both operations. Someone out there may know the resistance reading that it should have on an Ohm meter but i am not sure.

On my 1986 all you need to do is avoid the one that says "KILMA" as that is the climate control/ac compressor relay the only other major relays near that are the OVP (easily distinguishable) and the fuel pump relay. Maybe that can help you out?

an overload...?

they say the old OVP relays are prone to corrosion and failure, this might have been what happened... i dunno. i replaced both the OVP and fuel pump relay and touch wood, the car has been fine (so far)...!

there are only three items by the ecu that i could see. kilma, overlaod relay and another relay. does anyone know if the other might be the fuel pump relay?

Yes the other one is the Fuelpump relay as I stated before it is also the kickdown relay. It is relay that is closest to the battery. That is the fuel pump relay. If you need me to I have the picture in my manual I will take a pic and post it. But if you stand at the passenger side wheel of your car and look at those relays it is the one to your right. Hopefully I am explaining this clearly.

08 Lexus GS350 AWD. 08 Lexus RX350 AWD - wife's. 94 MBZ E320 - still have it.
Sorry for the stupid question, but have you checked for the spark? That would help you determine whether you have an ignition problem, or a fuel problem.

That "other relay" is your fuel pump relay for sure. It looks just like the Kilma relay just different lettering/numbering. As for your fuse blowing issue on the OVP relay, if you have a tendency to leave your lights on and kill your battery, I read somewhere (mercedeshop?) using jumper cables to "jump" your car can cause excessive back current blowing, and even damaging your OVP relay. Pop the OVP out and take it apart, look for loose connections or burnt spots on the pcb and let us know from there.
