AMG Monoblocks Are Finally Mounted!! W/ PICS!!

It's amazing how wheels can completely change the look of a car ,its got some good poke on the rear-they really suit it.
Rolled arches and negative camber would look great when you lower it.
Euro light's are nice touch, i don't get why the U.S lights are so ugly.
You should use some proper aluminum wheel polish if they aren't lacquered it makes them more shiny and the brake dust can't eat at the alum,it's also good for cleaning off water marks- well worth it .I've got polished wheels on my other car and use stuff

something similar must be available in U.S

**ALSO**
Brand new OEM center caps came in today, and I must say those little circles make a huge cosmetic difference! Pictures tomorrow, I promise.

Looks better than I thought at first man. I think Zorro's right about them needing another coat of clear though. I love how bright mine look even through the tint. I see other cars with smoked tails and they barely shine through at all, even under braking. When mine are lit up, they look as if there is nothing on them whatsoever. w124's rock

Your wheels and your car all look great!!!
Your car really does look awesome for a 1986 vehicle. My 1995 feels more and more like a classic every day. It does seem to turn heads, at least when it is recently cleaned an shinny.

I'm interested in possibly polishing my lips too. The clear is pealing at the edge on 3 of my wheels and I do do have one wheel with some curb rash. How hard was it to sand and polish the lips? My 16" AMG Monoblock Aero I wheels have an extra squared-off edge on the lip, so I think I will have to spend a bit more time, but I just wonder how tough it really was to make your lips look so good.

Procedure as follows:
1) Chock up front wheels
2) Jack rear up and put a jackstand on only one side of the rear jackpoint so that one wheel is free and the other wheel is on the ground
3) I suggest removing the tires and valvestem, it'll make your life much easier
![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
4) 2 nice layers of blue painters tape on theface of the wheel to that accidental "Opps" does not create an "ow"
5) Start the car up and put into drive so the lifted wheel spins freely
6) Get your 60-80 grit sandpaper and press firmly on the rim while spinning (it heats up so gloves might be a good idea). Also I had some 4x6 inch sheets of nice squared aluminum on hand and I used those to litterally shave off most of that rubbery plastic clear like a lathe and chisel technique, note that the aluminum is just as soft if not softer than the aluminum rim so you run very very little risk of putting deep scratches the rim . That clear stuff is super durable, and pain in the @$$ to sand off so shaving it off is a good way to save about 20min of cursing per wheel.
7) Once your down to the aluminum (you'll see the sheen/color difference) Hit it with 180, then 220, then 320, note that the car is in drive and the wheel is spinning throughout this whole process.
8) I have an air grinder with a buffing wheel and compound that I used to take the 320 down to a pretty nice shine easily so sanding with 400 wet, 600 wet, and so on might be another option without the buffer.
9) Then I took some "neverdull" and pretty much finished them off.

If you need me to clear anything up i"m happy to help you out.

That is great idea to use the car like a lathe to spin your wheels. You are a truly innovative diy'er, although I really can't imagine doing it that way myself. I can just see me having my car take off down the road. I remember old slapstick comedies with all kinds of antics based on the idea of running the car when it was up on a jack. I also remember a scene from an old movie where they used the car wheel to run a ski lift. Actually, I wonder if you may be pulling my leg a bit because of some of my previous posts.
However you accomplished the task, your wheels look great and it sounds like your entire car really has been pulled back from the beyond.

so are there 2 styles of Mono I's ?
those two-piece looking ones with all the studs around the edges,
and the smooth ones (like that black painted one you have there).
What Mono I type would an original HAMMER have come with ?
