AMG Monoblocks Are Finally Mounted!! W/ PICS!!
Okay,
First off, I need to thank Cannonball here on these forums for A) Spotting that horrid W124 so we can make fun of it and B) For selling me these Mono's at an incredible price, superb packing, and fast shipment, Thank you!
I arrived at the local Firestone (Branford, CT) with all four rims in the car. I walk in and immediately the Bridgestone Potenza on display caught my attention, the new RE-760 looked awesome. I talked to the manager for a while about euros and got them ordered. Came back in two days, got them mounted, and in a nutshell....I'm absolutely thrilled!
It's like driving a completely different car, this top heavy sedan turned into a sporty stiff machine that still drives like a cloud! I Love how it looks. Also just to clear things up now, I sanded and polished all of the rim lips to a nice shine. What do you guys think?

Looks nice, glad to see another 86 on the road. btw, buy 3m rubbing compound to make the paint on the rims shine. It also takes care of any hard to remove break dust. Good job on the lips!

I love my 86! Thanks for the tip with paint, that was the only thing I didn't attempt as I knew you guys would lead me in the right direction . Would any rubbing compound suffice, I believe I have some turtle or mothers rubbing compound in the garage somewhere. Thanks, the lips came out much better than I anticipated, I spent about 45 min per wheel but it was well worth the extra shine.

They are 235/45/17. I like to use 3m or meguiars scratch x those are the best. It does miracles on chrome when you have water spots or really dull paint.
Did you use nite shades for the tails?

I was Linkin' for the right effect......get it?
Or use a Razr phone like Albert!
Yup 235/45/17 in back and 215/45/17 in front.
You will most likely laugh when I tell you what I used for the tails. When I was little I had a nitro RC car (Traxxas T-Maxx) and you could buy clear lexan bodies to paint. The stuff on my tails is called "Black Window Tint" and comes in a mini 3oz rattle can for $4 and change here I used about 4-5 coats of satin clear on top of the testors to seal it off and give it a semi OEM look, not to shiny, and not to flat. It holds up pretty well considered I have heard of nightshades being washed away from rain, but fact or fiction for $4-5 and a can of clear you can do both your tails. Did this to my 99' C280 as well.

Enzo, my Benzo
I use that window tint on my RC cars...I do disagree though, the tail finish is TOO flat and nothing like OEM. Do a glossy clear and you will be way happier. I rolled for 6months with just spray tint looking flat like yours, then glossed them and have had them like that for 5.5years and they look GREAT.
Nice rims, car is looking good! Even with the baller 1cent lips!!

i think you pushed the width of the rears a little, they look like they stick out a past the fender... just keep that in mind when you drop, you'll probably have to roll your fenders etc.
the rims suit your car, it looks good!

Try the 3m rubbing compound on the tails and it will make them shiny. I used that window tint stuff once but it doesn't look nice when you turn on the lights at night. I got another set of tails but i just got those clear coated black.

Rolling the fenders will help, but they are sticking out enough right now that you will have to rely on negative camber in order to get them to tuck into the wheel well. So make sure to rotate your tires often!

I have to admit, I love the way they jet out just a little it looks so mean from behind. I'll have to see what a fender roller would cost to rent.

Also, as YNVDIZW124 said, I have no problems with camber yet and 0% speedometer error from stock using 45 profile/17"diameter

LMAO, yes there are however I think that would be a tad off topic
Thanks bro! Sure is a magnaflow, and with the stock center muffler/resonator it sounds perfect.
