Wheel offset question.....51 ET????

Hows everyone doing? Thanks for your help with wheel replacement links...

I really do not want to bother you all AGAIN with the wheel issue, but i have poured over the stickie info. and still have questions.....

In the search for new Cabrio wheels i have followed up everyones suggestions and tried the Craigslist adds in CA. No one seems to want to go to the trouble of packing up thier AMG 5 spokes and send them to me. Thrice i've tried and thrice i have been denied. I'm very frustrated with it all so I am considering going for a slightly larger OEM look.

MB made an OEM 16 x 7.5 with an offset of 51 for the S class W140. Its the standard flat 8 hole wheel. My existing wheel/tire package is a 195 x 6.5 x 15 with a 44 offset (same wheel design though). Apparently the Big S class wheels had a different offset.

I have tried the wheel calculator here on the board and offset calculator. The offset calculator says i'll have 20mm less inner clearance on the inside and 6mm more on the outside (fender). Do i have that kind of clearance inside? The alloyswheelsdirect fitment chart shows a 49 offset on a few smaller 15" wheels for the W124.

If someone has any experience (or is a mathematical genius) here i'd really appreciate knowing. I'd rather not spend the money and find out i have screwed up.

My simple yes or no question for someone is.... will a 51 offset fit my car. I'm hoping to use None of the owners car photos and specs show anything this wide being used. I'm hoping to use 215/60-65/16 wheels???????

I know the right wheels will magically appear to me if i keep up my chanting, but really, i'm getting quite hoarse.

Those wheels will not fit. The offset is too high and
the lug holes are 14mm. try and find a set of 16x8 wheels
off either a 500e or SL500 from the 90s.
they have a 34 offset and work great although you might
have to change tire sizes depending on if you're suspension
is modified or not.

Thanks all

Actually found a set of these S class 8 slotted wheels with the 51 offset locally, imagine that.....

The owner was kind enough to try to fit them to the cabrio. The back were tight, but as expected and per everyones suggestion the fronts would not fit.

I will try looking at some c class wheels.

A lesson learned and again thanks everyone.
