The intercooler will be almost full length of the plenum and welded in. The plenum shape will be a half round with the intercooler making the bottom.

New drive extension
I received the new drive extension and have made some headway. I also have changed the intercooler layout. It will have twin outlets to the intake manifold.

The engine on the stand is a spare. It will eventually get built up with some custom pistons. I am running a completely stock engine minus the mods you can see.
As far as you leak. Most likely if you are leaking that much you need a headgasket.

Whip, I'm in Eastern WA. and was curious if you're a shop owner, private enthusiast or trained dealer mechanic?
If I need an R&R on my 104, I'm thinkin' you'd get a call for services. The indi shops over here scare me.

I was a dealer tech for amost 10yrs. I have been working for myself for about a year and a half. I can easily handle any needs you might have for your car.
PM me or email me if you would like to talk more.
Thanks.

Any updates on TCM software?
The 722.6 upgrade is something I would seriously consider when my trans goes. How much were the parts for this, and how much labor time would you estimate to install? The TCM, I understand, is truly stand-alone, not having to be interconnected with any of the other systems/computers?

The cost of the tcu by itself is 750.00. The harness is 150.00. Then you need a transmission of course and a shifter from a 1997-1999 c-class or other's with the same shifter. At the salvage yard you could get the trans. for around 12-1500 dollars and a shifter for about 450.00. So total cost on components is around 3000.00. I can sell the tcu either with no tune or with a tune. I am currently adding $300.00 to have the tune I have developed for this application. I have probably around 300 hours tied up in getting it to the point I am at now. The last couple of things that I need are from PCS to get the software corrected for perfect operation. You can pm me with contact info and I will be happy to discuss this more.

So, you're selling the TCU with a tune, together with the harness, for ~$1200?
The onus then being on the car owner to locate the correct shifter and transmission?
Doesn't sound unreasonable. The earlier $4000 figure that someone threw out, i thought was a little ridiculous. One could buy a whole car for that. I know I did!!!!!!

I think that it depends on how expensive the items cost to get. I was thinking around $5,000 to have me do it all if the car was local. Also since the tcu tune is kind of a general tune at this point. Every car is different. In order to get everything perfect for different applications the car would have to be in my possession for a great deal of time. This is not going to be for everyone. In order to get the shifts to be reliable at this point, they have to be firm. I really like it because I wanted complete control over shift points and overdrive and very firm shifts. Developing new tunes at first will be a money loosing item for me. If I were to charge hourly for what I have done, it would have cost probably $25,000. As more demand rises for the application either mercedes or chrysler we will be more important for PCS to get the speed sensors and a couple other things sorted out. Once the speed sensors are working the tcu has gear recognition and mishifts will all but be eliminated. The tcu has the potential to work in almost the identical way as the factory unit. It is full standalone. It only requires a throttle input, map input, and a driven wheel input. I also wanted to add that for the mechanical speedo cars the speedo will have to be repl. or a driver installed to convert the signal to a mech. motion.

RBYCC, I did a lot of reading a looking around on this. What I have found is that with the bellmouths, that they draw air from around the bottom also. If you go and look at bellmouth air flow you can find diagrams. Also the part of the plenum under the bellmouth provides volume to the plenum which is really for keeping the pressure in the plenum stable and equal. Just think of an old school velocity stack open to atmosphere. Same principles. I am not an expert at this by any means, but it makes sense to me. I need to find a flow bench to test it. I was also thinking of triangulating the tanks for adding a little volume to the ends if I was starving 1 and 6.
