I just became the proud owner of a 1995 E320 4-door today! Took it for a long drive and it was sweet. It has a surprisingly strong engine (my last car was a 2002 SLK32 AMG which I sold because I switched continents, so I was surprised at the oomph this old car has).

Now the questions:

1) Has anybody found a nice, OEM-looking head unit with a single CD to replace the old Blaupunkt cassette? I want something that preserves the look of the old unit -- a shiny colour LCD with silver-coloured buttons won't do.

2) What wheels will work on this car? I'd love to put some 17" wheels on it. I have some tires from the SLK32 that I'd like to try using:

205/50R17 89H front
225/45R17 91H rear

Can anyone tell me about offsets/compatibilites for the W124 E320?

Well I know you said a silver head unit won't do, but check this one out. I used to be a guy that said all aftermarket stereo head units look crappy in benz's especially my brown benz, but it actually fits well. The screen can be set to be orange to match the gauges.

Everyone in my car said they liked the head unit and thought it looked good with the car.

I was previously registered in the forum because I had a 2002 SLK32 AMG. But I sold it when I moved from Ontario to London, England. I figured an older E320 would be a good car to drive and park on London streets where everything is smaller and people constantly park by brail...

So far the E320 has been nice, except for the water pump failing which cost an arm and a leg to pay for here. But the AA pre-purchase inspection warranty should re-imburse me for that.
