'95 E300D Questions
Just bought one but: 1) Heated seats don't work, but the lights on the switch do. Is there a part that goes bad? 2) Where can I get a service manual? MBUSA does not have them. 3) Is there a common problem with the electric front head rests? Both do not work. Thanks for any help you may offer.

1.) I don't have any input other than doing a search of the forum.
2.) MBUSA does have the manuals on cd:
3.) This is a common problem. The parts to fix are inexpensive but getting the back off the seat is not real easy. A search will turn up a lot of information.

I fixed the heated seats on my car. There's an electronic control unit for the mechanism under the rear seat, driver's side. It costs $300 to replace. I repaired mine for $14 by replacing the fried relays inside the control unit.
Do you hear any motor action for the head rests? The common problem is a plastic gear rack that breaks. When you remove the rear panel for the seat (hardest part of the job), the problem should be obvious. The part should cost $20-$30.

Searches did not show any helpfull info. Here is what MBUSA said.
Thank you for the information. Unfortunately, the workshop manual CD-ROM for Model Year 1995 E300D isdiscontinued. If you wish, you may check our service and repair technicalwebsite at www.STARTEKINFO.com or www.classictechlit.mbusa.com to furtherpursue your inquiry. The opportunity to respond is our pleasure. Sincerely, Patricia R.Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC.
Waiting to hear back from www.classictechlit.mbusa.com on the manual.
One seat makes noise the other does not. When I get the manual I will take them apart.
I guess I will go look under the back seat for the control box.
Thanks for the info.

Pulled the bottom box from under the seat. It's yellow. Do I have the correct one? A search of the numbers on it does not show a part. The relays do look brand new.

Well I can't help you with your questions but I had a 95 300D and gave it to my father-in-law and wish I didn't, every time he pulls up to my house I get pissed off!
The only problems I had were in the beginning due to the wiring harness that needed to be replaced, at that time I put in new glow plugs and glow plug relay and she's run flawlessly for the last 80K miles - can't get less than 32 mpg on the freeway with a million dollar ride.
