Were you playing with wires when it went off?

How did you go about connecting your stereo? Did you just use the existing wires, or did you tap into any existing wires?

If you just used the existing wires, I doubt this has anything to do with your stereo.

Unforunately it won't be cheap to fix. Sorry man.

Get a Momo wheel now...an airbag from 1986 wouldn't save your life more than hurt it. They need to be replaced every 8yrs.

Airbags on pre-1992 models had a recommended service life of 15 years. The logical thing to do is to replace your wheel/bag with a 1992+ model.

1992 Mercedes-Benz 500E
Yeah MB extended them to 15 yrs for some reason my 1992 has two airbag stickers old/new. Those thinks are freaking expensive to. The only thing I have heard causing air bags to deploy on 124's is if the front flex disc comes apart cuz the module is in the floor right next to the disc. Maybe some road debris hit it?

That is what I was saying. I wouldn't trust my old airbag to save my life being even 18 yrs old (a 1990) I sure as heck wouldn't trust one that is 22yrs old like yours. You are just lucky it didn't happen while you are driving.

Quicksilver, I'd replace yours immediately too. Your 16yr old airbag is the same gen as ours...first gen and I wouldn't trust MB's thoughts of "changing" the expiration date to 15yrs.

2Phast has a second gen airbag as far as i can remember and he is meticulous in the maintenance of his cars.
