Removing spring pads

I would like to remove my spring pads for the time being. Does anyone know where I can rent an internal spring compressor? I heard this is necessary for accessing the front spring pads, unless anyone has other suggestion. Thx.

You'll need the MB specific spring compressor which I don't know if you can rent that anywhere to make your life easier when taking out the springs in the front ...

buy one one ebay for $200. worth it in the long run, as you will eventually need to play with your suspension again

You

will need at least the thinnest spring pad anyway you can not leave no pad at all.
2 jacks method and knowing what you are doing and you don't need a spring compressor at all.
don't try it unless you know what you are doing,Zing

there are a number of us running with no spring pads. thankfully the W124 was engineered better than the Wrustyspringperch aka W210.
as for the 2 jack method, that's extremely unnecessary and way more dangerous than buying a spring compressor and doing it properly. this will give you a better idea of what is involved (especially if you like jazz music):

Ok here's the scoop. I'll have the local dealer change out my #2 pads to #1 pads which I just ordered. I have H&R springs with Bilstein sports. We'll see how much of a drop this induces probably 5-10mm my guess. I also will get a proper alignment at the dealer.

Here's the funniest part....at the parts counter another guy just picked up four 23mm spring pads for his girlfriends CLK. He referred to them as "monster truck" pads and was doing this because she kept "running over things and destroying the underbody..."
